Panther printThe Florida Panther (Puma concolor coryi) is a large, powerful cat occurring just in south Florida in the Big Cypress Swamp and Everglades region.  It is an endangered species.

Panthers generally avoid humans, but may occasionally be seen along roads and have been killed by cars.

The Commission's Advisory Council on Environmental Education maintains a complete web site called  Florida Panther Net, where you can learn about the Panther.
